Universal Orlando - Best Attractions for Kids
Taking young children to Universal Studios? While some of the rides here are a little too grown up for kids, there is still plenty to keep them busy.
If you have young kids, you’ll want to start your visit to Universal with a visit to Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone, a land designed just for little ones. Kids looking for thrills will want to head for Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster. This is a great beginner coaster for kids, with a minimum height requirement of 36″. Parents can ride too, so they can enjoy this gentle coaster with their kids.
Another favorite ride here is E.T. Adventure. This is a dark ride where guests travel through the woods with E.T. and Elliot on cars shaped like bicycles. At the end, E.T. says goodbye to each guest by name!
There are two playgrounds here too. The first is called Curious George goes to town, and features plenty of water features for hot days. The second is called Fievel’s Playland, and is based on the movie “An American Tail.”
When you need to slow down and get out of the sun, check out some of the great shows here. There’s a live action Barney themed show starring everyone’s favorite purple dinosaur, as well as StarToons, a show featuring Universal kids characters singing 80’s songs. There’s also a live animal show with some amazing animal tricks.
Don’t forget about character meet and greets! Kids can get their pictures taken with Woody, Barney and Baby Bop, Curious George, Scooby Doo, Shaggy, and the characters from Madagascar.
Outside of the Woody Woodpecker zone, there’s plenty more for kids to do. Check out Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon blast, a simulator ride featuring popular Nickelodeon characters (yes, Spongebob is there). And don’t miss Shrek 4-D, a 3-D show will a twist. Not only do you get 3-D glasses, you’ll feel and smell features that enhance the show.
