Attractions near Universal Studios Orlando, Florida
Let’s face it….you can only spend so much time at an amusement park before you need a break. While on your vacation at Universal, there’s going to come a day when you just can’t face another roller coaster or long line. Don’t worry though. Orlando offers plenty of other attractions to keep you busy away from the parks.
There is, of course, the obvious choice to visit another park. After all, you have Disney, Wet and WIld, SeaWorld, and Busch Gardens all close by. But if you truly need a break from the parks for a day, try one of these options:
- Hit the beach. Orlando is only about an hour’s drive from the famous Cocoa Beach on Florida’s east

coast. It’s home to the Ron Jon surf shop, as well as some quality waves. You can rent a board and brush up on your surfing skills, or simply relax on the beach and soak up the sun. While you’re here, don’t forget to check out Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center.
- Do some shopping. The Orlando area is home to some great shopping. The brand new Festival Bay Mall is just down International drive from Universal, and offers some great stores in a fun atmosphere. There’s a Bass Pro Shop, a skate park, a movie theater, and plenty of other stores. If you’re looking for more upscale shopping, try the Mall at Millenia, where you’ll find everything from Tiffany and Co. to Urban Outfitters.
- Take the kids to one of Orlando’s wacky museums. Try Wonderworld or Ripley’s Believe it or Not, both on I-drive. These aren’t your average museum….there’s plenty of fun, quirky things to see and do that the whole family will love

- Relax! Spend the day swimming in the hotel pool, sleeping late, and enjoying nice meals as a family. You’ll enjoy your vacation more if you take a break every once in a while.
