Amusement Parks in Orlando – Part 1 The Disney Parks
The Orlando area is home to some of the best theme parks in the world. In this post, we’ll do a quick overview of each park, highlight some of the best attractions, and outline the best park for different interests and age groups.
- Magic Kingdom – This is the first place people typically think of when they hear the word “Disney.” If you’ve never been to Orlando, you may not know that the Walt Disney World resort actually includes 4 theme parks and 3 water parks, along with scores of shopping and lodging options. Magic Kingdom is the most frequently visited of these parks, and contains the famous Cinderella Castle. This park is mostly geared towards children, with no rides that are really wild or overly thrilling. That being said, don’t underestimate the magic and wonder that this park creates, for old and young alike.
- Epcot Center – This Disney park is really two parks in one. When you first enter the park, you’ll find yourself in Future World, where you’ll find attractions such as Mission Space, Test Track, and Spaceship Earth. The other half of the park is called “World Showcase,” and features pavillions dedicated to various countries around the world. There are a couple of small rides, but nothing to scream about. This park is much more fun for older kids and grownups. They even sell alcohol.
- MGM Studios – Universal Studios part 2? Well, kind of. This DIsney park celebrate movie magic, Disney style. There are some pretty including rides, including Disney’s best coaster, Rockin Rollercoaster, as well as the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. In addition, you’ll find show biz type attractions like The Great Movie Ride and the Backlot Tour. They do a great job of appealing to all ageas here, but I have to say that little ones might get bored here quickly.
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Many people have the mistaken impression that this is a zoo. Really, it’s anything but. Yes, there are animals, but they’re only a small part of the fun here. There are also some great rides, like the Kali River Rapids, and shows like “A Bug’s Life.” One tip: If you come here, visit early to see the animals awake and in action. They tend to sleep through the hotter park of the day. With no major thrill rides, this park works best for younger children or animal lovers.
Tune in tomorrow for more information of some other Orlando parks!
